The Westoe Dam lies north of the small village of Amsterdam in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Construction of the dam finished in 1968. The main reason for the dam was to supply water to local towns and industries. It has a capacity of nearly 60 million cubic metres!

The Westoe Dam is located on the Usutu River which flows from west to east. The R33 road crosses the Usutu River just below the dam wall as shown in the pictures.

Not a lot of recreational activity takes place at Westoe Dam. It is easily accessible for fishing from the shore, but a boat is recommended. Largemouth Bass are caught regularly but Carp and Spotted Bass may also be caught.

There are no accommodation options at the dam but one may find a few guest houses in the Amsterdam region.

What is there to do at the Westoe Dam?
