Northern Cape
The town of Kamieskroon is located amongst numerous granite hills. In fact the original location of the town proved to be an issue as there was no room to expand so the town was moved to a new site 7 km away.
Nature lovers and explorers will find plenty to do in the area. The Namaqua National Park is 21 km away. Hiking and mountain biking are popular in the area. The spring wildflowers are a major attraction. There are a number of points of historical interest such as Leliefontein with its sundial, the Leliefontein Methodist Church and Parsonage buildings which are both national monuments and the grave of Lt. DJ Darter, a British officer, who was killed during the Anglo-Boer war.
Kamieskroon is situated in an arid area and experiences high temperatures in summer and sometimes gets frost in winter.
